Minn Kota Endura C2 Trolling Motor Review: Rock-Solid Performance on the Water

I’ve been fishing for most of my life, and I’ve gone through more trolling motors than I care to admit. When my previous motor finally gave up after years of abuse, I decided to give the Minn Kota Endura C2 a try. After several months of using this transom-mount trolling motor across various lakes and conditions, I think I’ve found the sweet spot between performance and price.

The Endura C2 isn’t the fanciest motor on the market, but honestly, sometimes reliability matters more than bells and whistles. I’ve put this thing through its paces in everything from calm mornings to somewhat choppy afternoons, and it’s held up remarkably well. Let me break down what I’ve found…

Built to Last

The first thing that struck me about the Endura C2 was its solid construction. The composite shaft feels incredibly durable – Minn Kota claims it’s virtually indestructible, and while I haven’t tried to break it on purpose (who would?), I have accidentally bumped into underwater obstacles a few times with no issues. The mount is sturdy and straightforward, attaching securely to my 14-foot aluminum boat with minimal fuss.

The lever lock bracket makes for easy adjustment when you need to raise or lower the motor, which has been particularly helpful when I’ve unexpectedly encountered shallow water. I did find the tilt twist tiller a bit stiff at first, but it loosened up after a few outings and now provides comfortable control without any wrist strain during long days on the water.

  • Lever Lock Bracket: This solid 10-position bracket features a quick-release lever lock and reinforced composite material that resists flexing, warping, and UV damage.
  • Telescoping Tiller: Get easy, comfortable, intuitive operation of your trolling motor with the six-inch telescoping tiller including finite adjustment of forward and reverse speed settings.
  • Digital Maximizer: Trolling motors equipped with Digital Maximizer provide up to 5 times longer run times on a single battery charge. These variable speed trolling motors let you dial in your exact speed, and they deliver only as much power as you need, helping to conserve your battery for a full day of fishing.
  • Push-to-Test Battery Meter: Press a button on the trolling motor head to get an instant status of battery life you have left.
  • Power Prop: This prop delivers extra power to push through heavy vegetation. Includes prop pin, nut and washer.

Power When You Need It

With 30 pounds of thrust, the Endura C2 isn’t the most powerful option in Minn Kota’s lineup, but it’s more than adequate for my smaller fishing boat. The 5 forward/3 reverse speed settings give you decent control, though I’ve found myself mostly using speeds 3-4 for general cruising. At full throttle, it moves my boat quite well, even against moderate wind and current.

Battery life has been impressive – I typically get a full day of fishing (around 6-7 hours) with intermittent use before noticing any significant power drop. The power prop seems to push through weeds better than my previous motor, which is a huge plus when fishing in areas with vegetation. There have been a couple occasions where thicker weeds have gotten tangled, but a quick reverse usually clears things up.

One thing I’ve particularly appreciated is how quiet this motor runs. I can approach my favorite fishing spots without scaring away the catch, which wasn’t always the case with my old motor that hummed like a small airplane.

What Other Anglers Say

Looking through the Amazon reviews, the Endura C2 maintains a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars, which seems to reflect most users’ satisfaction. The sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many reviewers highlighting the motor’s reliability and value.

One reviewer named Terry mentioned: “I’ve had this for 3 years now and still no issues. Been in salt, fresh, dirty water and it still runs like a champ.” Another customer wrote: “Perfect for my 14′ aluminum boat. Battery easily lasts all day and it’s powerful enough to handle windy conditions.”

Common criticisms include the lack of a battery indicator and some mention the motor struggling in very heavy vegetation or stronger currents. A few users noted issues with the mount loosening over time, though this wasn’t a widespread complaint.

Is This Trolling Motor Right For You?

For beginners: This is an excellent starter trolling motor. The simple controls, straightforward installation, and reliable performance make it perfect if you’re just getting into fishing or boating. The price point is also very approachable for newcomers who might not want to invest in premium equipment right away.

For intermediate users: The Endura C2 hits a sweet spot for casual to regular anglers. If you fish a few times a month on smaller lakes and rivers, this provides adequate power and features without unnecessary complexities. You might eventually want more power if you upgrade to a larger boat, though.

For advanced users: While experienced anglers might appreciate the Endura’s reliability, those who fish professionally or very frequently may find themselves wanting more features like spot-lock, GPS integration, or wireless control available in Minn Kota’s higher-end models. The 30lb thrust is also limiting for larger vessels or challenging conditions.
